After watching this Ted Talk two things got stuck in my mind:
First of all I didn't expect it would treat feminism like this (in a good way) and secondly how different feminism is percieved around the world.
Isabel talked about how gender equality would help to solve problems like torture or abduction while when we talk about it we mostly talk about salary problems or oportunities which is important but it's only a tiny fraction of the problem and it's from a privileged point of view. I personally think that we should open our eyes to see and educate people on what feminism is about and how it would affect people.
The first thing people should know is that feminism isn't about women being better than man but that everybody is equal despite their gender, if this happened situations like the ones she mentioned (the dental hygenist who helped a woman that was being beaten up by her husband or the mother who fought for her family despite everything) wouldn't be like this or at least the people who did this wouldn't remain unpunished.
This stories about passionate women should make us want to do something about the world situation, most of us have felt discriminated at some point of our life, now try to imagine how would it feel to be in that situation every day, I mean it must be awful and nobody should feel like that.
Right know gender equality is a need and no one should fear for their lifes just because their gender, I think the world is ready for a change and we should start making little changes now like stop saying some sports aren't for girls or that women can't do some jobs, this may be little changes but in the long term it will help to change the way people see and treat each other and make the world a better place to live for everybody.
